Before creating his web-series, Nostalgia Critic on YouTube channel in 2007 he posted a series of self-explanatory videos “5 Second Movies” on YouTube where he and his friends shared jokes about some movies.

After a year, his reviews became popular but he had to remove the video series from YouTube in April 2008 as he faced copyright issues and infringement complaints by the 20th Century Fox and Lionsgate and he had to shift to his independent website called ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com.

Nevertheless, in 2009 they again came back by doing contract between Blip (American media platform for web series content) and the company.

Likewise, the show was going well but again Doug and his brother decided to terminate it as they thought the character went too far. However, Doug again released a short video titled The Review Must Go On on 22nd January 2013; announcing the comeback of Nostalgia Critic from 5th February of the same year.

As a result, Doug succeeded in gaining more views and received more than $11million of donations through online, 100,000 to 300,000 viewers every week and more than one million page views every month by 2009.
